Fagge, a local government area in Kano State, Nigeria. Kano State is located in the northern part of Nigeria and is one of the 36 states in the country. Fagge is one of the 44 local government areas within Kano State. Fagge is known for being densely populated and is a major commercial and industrial hub within the state.

It has an area of 21 km2 and a population of 198,828 at the 2006 census.

On the 4th of December 1996.Fagge Local Government Area was created from the Nasarawa local government area. Hausa and Fulani ethnic groups making up the bulk of the population. There is also a significant Igbo population. The predominant religion in the Local Government Area is Islam, and the Hausa language is widely spoken.

The Neighbours

Fagge is surrounded by several local government areas (LGAs) within Kano State. The neighboring LGAs include: 1. Nassarawa: Nassarawa LGA is located to the west of Fagge. It is one of the densely populated LGAs in Kano State and shares a border with Fagge. 2. Tarauni: Tarauni LGA is situated to the east of Fagge. It is also densely populated and shares a border with Fagge. 3. Dala: Dala LGA is located to the south of Fagge. It is another densely populated LGA in Kano State and shares a border with Fagge. 4. Kumbotso: Kumbotso LGA is situated to the northwest of Fagge. It is a relatively larger LGA in terms of land area and shares a border with Fagge. These are the immediate neighboring LGAs of Fagge within Kano State. Each of these LGAs has its own characteristics and features, contributing to the overall diversity and development of the region.

Economy/Agriculture

The primary economic activity in Fagge Local Government Area is trade, as the region is  home to various markets, including the famous Kantin Kwari Market, which is one of the largest textile markets in West Africa, Singa, Sabon Gari and etc.

The area is also known for its vibrant trade and economic activities. In addition to its commercial significance, Fagge is home to various educational institutions, health facilities, and other amenities.

Another important aspect of the Fagge Local Government Area economy is agriculture, with the region well-known for growing a variety of crops, including sorghum, rice, millet, and soy beans. Pottery, hunting, and the weaving and dying of textiles are among the other significant economic activities in the region.

Religion

Fagge is a diverse community with a mix of different ethnic groups and religious communities. The predominant religion in the area is Islam, and Islamic traditions and practices are an integral part of daily life for many residents.

Climate

The dry season in Kano is partly cloudy and hot all year round, whereas the wet season is muggy and cloudy. It rarely falls below 13°C or rises beyond 42°C throughout the year, with the average temperature fluctuating between 15°C and 40°C.
